Microsoft Software Idiocy

Windows Operating System

  • Unable to natively read/write the default file system for many Linux distributions (ext4) without installing a whole Linux sub-system and then going through a convoluted process to manually mount partitions. However, Linux distributions make it straightforward to read the Microsoft file system, NTFS, by simply installing NTFS-3G. The former process takes 10+ minutes to set up, the latter takes less than a minute.

Outlook

  • Unable to delete events from a calendar without notifying the sender. After merging the delete and decline meeting options into one Delete and Decline option, now users are unable to delete events from their calendar that were automatically added either by unsolicited or outright spam invitations without notifying the sender.
