The Design Philosophy of This Website

This website was coded by myself from the ground up to be lightweight, accessible and responsive using only HTML and CSS. There is no code or resource bloat, no JavaScript and no trackers. It is also hopefully beautiful to view and effortless to navigate the pages.

Over the years, websites have become laden with noise, devoid of the substance and beauty their visitors seek. They have become increasingly privacy-invasive and slow, despite hardware being orders of magnitude faster.

These effects are the result of poor design philosophy caused by general technical and typographical skill deficiencies, lack of empathy for users, questionable ethical practices and losing sight of the purpose of most websites (to share and inform). Unfortunately, this phenomenon is not just limited to sites on the world wide web, many software applications have evidence of it too.
