Why LiberaPay is Better Than Patreon

Five reasons why LiberaPay is the superior platform for fiat currency tips/donations:

  1. LiberaPay takes no cut from your tip/donation, Patreon takes a substantial one (5-12%). The only fees are those charged by the underlying payment processors (e.g. Stripe).
  2. LiberaPay supports wire transfer tips/donations in Europe (meaning lower payment processing fees), Patreon does not.
  3. LiberaPay allows anonymous tips/donations, Patreon requires you to set-up an alias account with an alias name and email.
  4. LiberaPay is free and open source software, Patreon is not. You can view LiberaPay's source code in its repository.
  5. LiberaPay is a money conduit, Patreon is technically selling something. This means that additional tax (e.g. VAT in Europe) is charged when using Patreon, LiberaPay induces none.
